ZETTLER FAMILY FARM
Farming has always been our passion, and organic has always been the way
When the Zettler family relocated to Kelleys Island in the early 80's from overseas they were looking for a new home base. The family decided to start an all organic farm stand to generate additional income. At the time organic farming was just popping up and had yet to gain enough popularity to "catch on", especially in a season vacation town. The current trend of organic produces that is grown locally, has allowed us to return to our roots. We incorporate fruits, vegetables, and herbs grown right in our gardens into several dishes and cocktails here at the Winery and at our sister restaurant, The KI Cantina. Listed below are some of the the things we currently grow and use right here on the grounds!
Though we have yet to work pears into our regular menu, we often use them for specials and seasonal treats.
We Often use lavender for soap and candle making projects as well as other crafts.
Have you tried our cucumber margarita at The KI Cantina? then you have had one of our home grown cucumbers!
We use Rosemary in several dish here at the KIWC. From our white sauce to our fall cranberry margarita, rosemary adds a herbaceous depth.
This may seem a bit obvious, but in 2018 we planted a small vineyard dedicated to growing dry red grapes.
We currently grow five different types of peppers in our garden. Habenaro, Serano, Jalepeno, chili, and pablano. The are used in most Cantina dishes and infused tequila.
Ever had a KI Cantina mojito or Strawberry mint marg? All the mint is grown right here on the grounds!
Tomatoes are a staple in most winery dishes. In July and August we grow and pick hundreds of all organic tomatoes.
Basil adds a fresh finish to several winery dishes. Margarita is a popular option topped with basil.
